Welcome to the first ever "kuwentuhan-online" in Idaho. We hope you'll find this a great venue to tell us what's going on. We welcome all comments, although we cannot promise you all that all comments will be published. We reserve the right to choose the articles, comments, gripes, and questions submitted to us. We will try to address any questions - in as personal as possible and will try to contact people we think are concern. But don't hold your hopes too high, we still can't please everyone. :)

Hey Floyd- I still remember those days when we had our gigs in Del Rio,Texas and also in San Antonio with Sunshine Cruz,Labanang Mang-aawit, and our Valentine serenade and Mash Bash in Laughlin Airforce base. It was fun and I was so scared at first coz I am not used to be in front of so many people but because of you I got over it and you gave me a chance to show off my talent, well not really a true talent coz I am not as good as you.Anyway if I had to do it again I will. Just wanna let you know that you are such a wonderful trainer and a wonderful friend.
From your friend, Randy - Texas

This is from Den, a great friend in college. I didn't see this article until she published it in her own blog... Thanks Den!
Nostalgic
Nickelback's "Photograph" is one of those songs that takes you down memory lane. The first time I heard this song a few weeks ago I instantly fell in love with it. And everytime I listen to it I can't help but smile & remember all those times in high school & college ...
... the time when Adam* was cleaning his ears & the cotton tip came off & got stuck in his ear; he had to be taken to the nurse to have it taken out
... the night Gilbert M., Leo, & a few other guys & I were up talking about conspiracy theories, unsolved mysteries, & kung anu-ano till 3 am na yata yon back in high school. We were out of town at the time, representing our school, Columban, sa newsletter writing competitions. Puyat kami pero in spite of it, we all bagged awards the following day...
... how weird I was back in college (still am), sinusundan ko yong crush kong mga babae during breaks in between classes; or when bored by the teacher or the day's lesson, all I had to do was sit in such a way para matitigan ko yong prettiest girl in class (closet lesbian yata ako hehehe)
... how smitten my close friend Rick* was with Maria*. I could feel his pain knowing that he could never have her...& even when he married & had kids, he was still in love with her.
... all those times walking to friend's houses in between classes or lunch breaks sa Sapang Palay, having so much fun talking & laughing with all my cool, down-to-earth friends
... the beautiful, peaceful view on the front porch of our small home in Arkansas as a little girl. On the left side were thick trees, on the right side you could see neatly plowed farms & bundles of hay & mountains in the distance...
... walking to SLU in the morning sa Baguio, with the fog so thick you could hardly see people a few feet away from you, & seeing fog coming in the corridors in between classes
... all the stupid, funny things I've said, sometimes kasi nababaligtad ko ang order ng words or I was so naive I didn't know what words meant & would innocently ask friends to explain things to me... they'd laugh... & laugh even harder at my expression of disgust, surprise, or puzzlement...
... Floyd, such a great guy, loved hanging out with him & talking about anything & everything under the sun, & who was on my side when this group of girls wanted to kill me :-)
... Alvin, another great guy I met in college with a great sense of humor...always smelled of cigarette smoke & I'd complain about it, kaya he never smoked in my presence. One time, kiniliti ako sa side right at the point when we were saying "amen" sa morning prayers in class, napatili ako kaya hiyang-hiya ako, natawa lahat pati teacher...
... Zharrex, Mike, Marivic, Chato, Gail & I back in 3rd yr. sa Gapo, pinalabas kami ng Math teacher namin kasi we were passing notes to each other & nagtatawanan. We had to go to the Principal's office, buti na lang mabait si Ms. Ramos (Asst. Principal) sa 'kin kaya we got off the hook...
... long conversations about everything & nothing with all my close friends in high school & college ... Danny Cac, Rowmel, Orbits, Floyd, Alvin, JB
... how on the 6 hour bus ride to Baguio I'd spend wondering whatever happened to the people I'd met in Sapang Palay & to my classmates in Gapo
... 2 special guys who shall remain unnamed :-), whose eyes & smiles remain with me to this day...
... the thrill of being pursued & loved, the giddy feeling of the first kiss, the realization that this may not be the perfect person, but is the one you want to spend the rest of your life with (you know who you are!)
So many good memories...

I was transferring to another job because of unsuccessful negotiation to renew contract between my hospital-employer and its relation to a local business company. I was about to be interviewed when Heidi, a great medical provider-turned-greater-friend offered me her recommendation letter. As a result, I didn't get the job, but I got promoted to a better managerial position. For her protection, I'm not putting Heidi's real identity. Thanks, Heidi.

I have worked with Floyd Bea for nearly 2 years in an outpatient clinic setting. Because we work so well together we have become a “team” and he acts mainly as my nurse. I have observed him in all aspects of work, and am truly impressed with him more every day.

Floyd Bea is a very knowledgeable and skilled nurse. He was originally trained in the military as a medic, and later as a nurse. The advantage of military training is that medics receive extensive procedural training and have skills similar to civilian mid-level providers. While he has the baseline nursing skills, his training is much broader. Floyd does not “flaunt” this, but it has been helpful in multiple situations where he has actually had to walk new providers through suturing, digital blocks and skin biopsies. He is the only nurse in the clinic that can start an IV, a skill that has been utilized quite often.

Floyd has outstanding clinical, organizational, and leadership skills. He is a meticulous, organized worker. His appearance and bearing meet the highest standards. He is professional and courteous to co-workers, patients, and outside visitors. He never has a bad attitude, and when faced with adversary only offers ways to do things better.

And by the way, Heidi is currently the company commander of a military service while working as a full time medical Provider.

A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy man keeps a secret --
Proverbs 11:13

I was looking for a great short article about gossiping to inspire others and I hope this one will serve its purpose.

Many analogies have been given for the "untamed tongue." Quarles likened it to a drawn sword that takes a person prisoners: "A word unspoken is like the sword in the scabbard, thine; if vented, thy sword is in another's hand."

Others have described evil speaking as:
* A freezing wind - one that seals up the sparkling waters and kills the tender flowers and shoots of growth. In similar fashion, bitter and hate-filled words bind up the hearts of men and cause love to cease to flourish.
* A fox with a firebrand tied to its tail, sent out among the standing corn just as in the days of Samson and the Philistines. So gossip spreads without control or reason.
* A pistol fired in the mountains, the echo of which is intensified until it sounds like thunder.
* A snowball that gathers size as it rolls down a mountain.

Perhaps the greatest analogy, however, is one given by a little child who came running to her mother in tears. "Did your friend hurt you?" the mother asked.

"Yes," said the girl. "Where?" asked her mother.

"Right here," said the child, pointing to her heart.

Ask God to place a watch over your
tongue. Your words have the power to hurt and tear down, but they also have the power to heal and build up.

Post a guard at my mouth, God, set a watch at the door of my lips. -- Psalm 141:3

This is my final written message that are available to those who would like to read. My family are touched by people who continuously offering their support and friendship, hence the purpose of this blog. This is a lengthy message and I can send the rest of the contents via personal e-mail to those who would like to request it. I reserve the right to turn request/s down if I feel that you are not directly affected by this. Please understand that a copy is available for interested members of FilAm by addressing your individual request to FilAm of Idaho.

This is to address those who elected me to the office of the President of FilAm Association of Idaho: It is with sad regret that I am terminating my presidency due to personal reasons. I have completed a year of wholehearted service, (not counting the years I served as the Vice President and mostly forefront) and my family made sacrifices in order for me to fulfill my duties and responsibilities. After much soul-searching, I have decided to put my family back as my most significant priority. My wife endured several heartaches, but always managed to smile and hug people who we now know are stabbing our backs – for how long, we may never know. If this is how some people choose to compensate me for my service, as FilAm president or as a friend, then so be it! The Good Lord will take care of us!

In my one year of Presidency, I was able to accomplish my goal and vision to place FilAm as a group not just for potlucks and get-togethers. For the first time, FilAm had a face in the State of Idaho and with the Philippine Consular Office in San Francisco, California. We became one of the most anticipated groups during International events and performances due to the Kasayahan Dance Troupe participation. We were able to host more than 1,300 friends and guests during our biggest Filipinina Christmas Celebration. It was not the “perfect” event to some but the celebration marked our presence by having some dignitaries and important business people in the Treasure Valley.

The Executive Officers were able to continue being successful in many other activities. Events planned were still well attended and exposure to the community was better.

(A list of reasons why I resigned is available per request.)

In closing, I leave it to the leadership and the membership to think of the many possibilities that this association could have reached, were it not for the persistent hostilities and treachery perpetuated by a few people in it. How these negative factors can be removed is up to whoever wants to do it. It is no longer my problem.

To my friends and supporters, I and my family reaffirm our friendships with you. We will always be here for you.
